Course Of Treatment

Root canal therapy normally consists of an examination to determine the type of therapy needed, removal of the injured pulp, thorough cleaning and shaping of the root canal, and complete filling of the root canal system. Generally, it requires one office visit. However, each tooth presents individual challenges and will be treated accordingly.

Endodontic therapy is basically painless, and similar to having a simple filling placed. Your comfort throughout all phases of the treatment is important to us. A local anesthetic, such as Articaine will be used to numb the tooth prior to treatment. Anxiolytic medications, such as Valium, may also be used to treat patients with extreme anxiety.

After treatment, the tooth will probably be sensitive for several days. If you experience any swelling or severe discomfort, notify our office. We are always available via an emergency number, and your call will be returned as soon as possible.
